Presented by Patti Connolly, Waldorf teacher & mentor
“Strike a chord with which the souls of our children happily vibrate.”
- Rudolf Steiner
This course is designed for grades 1-8 Waldorf teachers. Participants will review the anthroposophical theory of child development and explore effective and creative class management practices to meet the children as they move through the three mini-cycles of middle childhood (6-14 years). We will explore five magic gems of teacher self-development. When woven together, these understandings help teachers transform their class environment from one of challenge or uncertainty into one of loving firmness.
Learning Objectives
- Brainstorming how to work with the children’s tendencies at each age.
- Understanding and learning how to become the Wise Elder
- Creating and following supportive classroom rhythms.
- Building a cohesive class community by engaging in such activities as developing class agreements, mediating restorative meetings between students, and more.
- Holding the mindset of misbehavior as an opportunity to learn and learning how to lovingly and effectively support students with challenging behavior.
